 PAWN
SHOP POKER
Materials needed: An ordinary
deck of 52 playing cards, some chips, or coins.
Object: Win regular poker hands to keep your clothes.
Game Rules
Everyone starts off with 3
chips.
Play whatever game the dealer calls. The deal passes
clockwise, as
usual.
When you want more chips,
you have to "pawn" clothes to get more. Most
articles of clothing are worth 3 chips, but cheesy ones
(extra pairs of
socks, ties, etc) may be worth less by popular vote,
or by house
rules.
Clothes in the pawn shop may
be bought back by anyone for 5 chips, or
more if two people bid up the price. Since clothes usually
sell for 2-3
times their pawning price, most of the chips (and the
clothes) end up in
the pawn shop in fairly short order.
Our house rules:
- Broke/naked people who are
good enough sports to stick around also get
a turn to deal.
- If anyone is down to their very last chip, play a
single bet game and let them call.
- Chips may (and do) exchange hands for services rendered
or auctioned.
